North Shore Weekend

Two unhurried days of turquoise water, easy trails and lakeside dinners — no rushing required.

The Idea

Base Yourself in Incline or Tahoe City

This weekend keeps things simple: one home base on the North or East Shore, short drives, and a mix of beach time, one easy hike and good food. It's ideal for a first visit or a quick reset.

Pick a place to stay in Incline Village or Tahoe City so everything below is within about 20 minutes.

The Plan

Day 1

Sand Harbor & the East Shore

Morning: Get an early start at Sand Harbor before parking fills — or skip the car and walk in along the Tahoe East Shore Trail. Afternoon: Swim, paddle the boulders, or laze on the sand. Evening: Lake-view dinner in Incline Village (see Food & Drink), then a nightcap and live music at Crystal Bay.

Day 2

A Hike, Then Beach-Hop

Morning: Stretch your legs on Monkey Rock for a Crystal Bay panorama, or keep it gentle at Chickadee Ridge. Afternoon: Drift west to Kings Beach and Commons Beach in Tahoe City for rentals and a grassy lakefront. Evening: If you booked ahead, finish with a tour of Thunderbird Lodge or a sunset cruise.

Make it flow: The single biggest tip for a North Shore weekend is to hit the beaches early and save towns, trails and dinners for the afternoon and evening — parking at Sand Harbor and the East Shore pullouts is gone by mid-morning all summer.
